“There comes a point, with a prayer and pure motives, where we just begin the good work.” ~ She Reads Truth
Most of us have no trouble getting inspired. Most of us have the desire to do more, to bless others, to make a difference in the Kingdom.
For most of us… the trouble doesn’t lie in the inspiration phase, or in having a lack of desire. It is in starting. We have to just begin, at some point. Take the first step… move forward.
I’m not sure what it is that stops us… I’m sure it varies from person to person, day to day.
- Maybe it is doubt in ourselves, whether or not it is what we are really called to do.
- Maybe it is doubt in God, wondering whether He will be there to catch our fall, when we step out and then stumble.
- Maybe it is insecurity, and fear of letting others down, misinterpreting things, crossing a line… or even fear of letting God down.
At some point we have to say no to the whirlwind. Put a pause on the dizzying spiral of negative thoughts, and just step out in faith and DO SOMETHING. Whether it is making that phone call, writing that letter, rocking that new mom’s screaming baby so she can rest, holding the hand of that cancer patient. There is work that needs to be done, and someone has to do it.
God, help me remember that the value is not in executing your work perfectly, but in simply getting out there, and DOING IT. It is time to stop overthinking and just GO.
